Our brain and the nervous system are fed from the glucose in blood, so to keep them working, the concentration must be constant.
When the glucose concentration could be bigger or smaller, the pancreas segregates one or the other hormone to balance this situation.

This situation ends in a worse mood , poorer attention and lack of concentration.At the same time, this warehousing of glucose in fat is what makes us to get fatter .
The answer to the insulin and reactive hypoglicemy is a matter that sportmen must have in mind to feed themselves becasuse the physical and mental drop that we suffer in this hypoglucemy stage can get worse their efficiency, specially after meals.
A meal with carbohydrates, during an hour, elevates the level of glucose in blood.The glycemic index is the effect of some food on the glucose level, not only with the quantity, but for the speed.
It is very important to take account of the glycemic index of food in order to select the carbohydrates.There are some levels to evaluates them,and an especific level for food, but the effects change form an individual to the other.
If we have a standard amount of carbohydrates in a mixed diet the glucose index must be constant.
Glucagon has an invert effect.It is an hormone that moves the energy stores to go up the concentration of glucose in blood to face up some physical effort.
This hormone appeares with the physical effort or alert , but these are situations less usual during the day, so to get the balance we need to look for other means, these could be the metabolic power of food.
Although insulin is the responsible to get us fatter, we need it because its low production could elevate glucose in blood too much ( diabbetes ).
There is a stage known as insulin resistance : Levels of insulin are elevated ( hyperinsulinism ), but the glucose in blood ones are high because the cells ,where they are going ,do not answer to such hormone yet.
The mixture of both situations creates a big amount of body fat, and a long hyperinsulinism can bring diabbetes and speed up heart diseases.
The balance between these two hormones is fit to wellness, absence of illnesses and a bigger mental concentration , and as we have said before, to a metabolic stability where fats could be the petrol to all our day long.
Carbohydrates stimulate the release of insulin, whereas diet proteins stimulate the glucagon secretion.
